Kim Amell

This new series is called

“Orr”

Orr is a mediation on the quiet, moody beauty found in the mountains I call home. Each painting in this series is built up through many layers of encaustic wax and oil, allowing the surface to hold both depth and softness - like the mist clinging to the trees at dawn.

These works are not meant to be literal but more emotional translations of moments experienced in nature. The mist becomes a veil, blurring edges and softening forms, while the greens feel grounded, alive, and breathing.

In this space, light and shadow shift gently, and time seems to slow.

Through Orr, I hope to offer viewers a place to pause - to feel the air, the dampness of the fog, and the stillness that comes when you are fully present in the landscape. This series is a reflection of my connection to the mountains, a reminder of the beauty in moments that are fleeting, yet deeply felt.
